Hey – I’m Ry, For the past 15 years, I’ve worked behind the scenes of NHL broadcasts, digging through numbers to find the stats, trends and storylines that make the game more interesting, and help tell the bigger story around the league.

I’ve been part of 1,500+ live games, including Stanley Cup Finals, Olympics, and more than 70 days inside the Edmonton playoff bubble.

And after all those years, I’ve learned one thing:

Keeping up with the NHL is a lot of work.
Thirty-two teams. Hundreds of players. Injuries, trades, streaks, standings, emerging stars, coaching changes, breakout seasons, slumps, and storylines changing every night.
You could practically make following the entire league a full-time job.
And even then, you’d probably miss something.

That’s where The Stats Guy comes in.

My job has always been to sift through all of that information and figure out what’s actually interesting, what actually matters, and what you actually need to know.

Sometimes that’s a great stat.

Sometimes it’s a trend hiding in the numbers.

Sometimes it’s a big league-wide storyline.

And sometimes it’s simply connecting the dots between things happening around the NHL that you might have missed.

The goal isn’t to give you more information. It’s to give you the right information.

No stat dumps. No unnecessary jargon. No trying to make things complicated just to sound smart.

Just the stats, stories and context that will help you understand what’s happening around the league, and stay in the know without having to spend your entire day doing it yourself.

It’s completely free, and I’ll respect your time. If I don’t think something is interesting, useful or worth knowing, I won’t send it.
